Happy Halloween Pt 2...

Another Metal masterpiece this time from Halloween, not to be confused with Helloween. Either way, you can't go wrong

Happy Helloween...!

Thank the Lords of the Underworld for there seems to be an 1980's hair metal video for every occasion. Who better than Helloween to bring us this seasonal musical masterpiece

What's LeVan think of the guys...

Old Kentucky Homies..

So, last, but certainly not least in the "team on team", is my dude. Mr James LeVan. I've known Jimmy as long as I remember(which is probably longer than Jimmy can remember). When I started to do this feature on the site, I planned on posting his opinions on the guys last. Coincidently, I received them last!! So, here are Jimmy's thoughts on the guys:

Adam Banton- I've been friends with this cat for a very long ass time! I'll take a guess and say maybe 94 or 95? I grew up in Louisville Kentucky and Adam was living in Virgina at the time. Adam was on of the dudes in the game who was doing tailwhips back when not many people period were doing them. Adam has always been a fun cat to ride with and has always killed it. I always respected his riding because because of his diversity. he knows how to blast, and yet he's a very tech dude at the same time. Stoked to see old cats still on it!

Mark Mulville - Mark is the dude whos always the fun dude of the crew. besides his fun humor and what not, this dude kills it on trails, street, skatepark, EVERYTHING. basically he's at home in all aspects of BMX. He just hasn't figured out if he lives in Pennsylvania or Florida? either way, this dude kills it.

Alex Magallan - Alex is a new dude on the team that I must admit, I don't personally know. I do however know he's one badass rider that I've seen some great riding footage of. I'm sure I'll meet this dude at a Duffs shoot sometimes this year. welcome to the team dude!

Karl Poynter - Karl is a new team dude that I don't really know, but this dude definitely has the skills to pay the bills as the hip hop kids would say. stoked to have you on the team bro.

Kevin Porter - Stoked as shit to have Kev on the team! I've been bro's with Kev since he was a teenager! I don't even have to explain his skills, I think the whole BMX world has known that for over a decade. to describe him in 3 words would be DIALED AS SHIT! I must say he's also the coolest Coffee shop owner in Chicago. Yo Kev, When are you going to come visit me in Seattle,( the coffee capital of the U.S.A.) ?

Another Magallan photo, another story...

This photo, and the story that goes along with it, can be seen over on the ESPN site. Nice one Alex and Andrew... You can also see more of Andrew White's work, on his site.

Shadow/Philly video...

Karl recently went on a Shadow Conspiracy trip to Philadelphia. There's a really good, exclusive edit of it on The Come Up. You can also view a special "Karl slide show" on the Shadow Conspiracy site. In other Karl news, he's off to France with the Eastern crew. Look for some photos and stories when he gets back.

Magallan the traveler...

I love when I get photos of Alex. Dude has rad style on and off his bike. I love when I get a good story with the photo, even more. Here is Alex's account of what happened just before this was shot:

Here's a photo from a recent Michigan family trip. Just before this was shot. I had a head on collision with a hobbo on a mountain bike, carrying a bag of empty steel reserves cans. Cans were scattered across the sidewalk and i was on my ass. So pissed man. Cursing and kinda shook up, I grabbed my bike and stormed off. Some random shit i tell u! 10cents for every can and bootle in michigan might i add.

So, Alex didn't get a pic of the hobbo, or steal any of his cans for the money!! He's young, but learning...

They dont make em like this any more

Karl Poynter-ing fingers...

Karl and his hero.

The next up in the "team on team", is Karl Poynter. Karl always has some interesting opinions, so here's what he had to say on the crew:

Jimmy LeVan-I remember getting to meet Jimmy for the first time in Louisville, KY at the Grand National BMX race. I was 10 years old at the time and nervous to ask him if he'd take a photo with me. That's why my older brother had to ask. Ha-ha His riding is very fun to watch with his fast pedaling and massive gaps. He's always got something up his sleeve. I've yet to go on a trip with Jimmy and can't wait for that day to come.

Adam Banton-Adam has been one of my all time favorite riders ever since I started riding freestyle and still is to this day. His creative outlook on riding makes him such a treat to watch ride. We've both been on a good amount of trips together and are always at each other with jokes and of course I'm the one that always comes out on top. Ha-ha I'm happy to call Adam a real good friend of mine.

Mark Mulville-Mark is everything you could ask for in a solid rider. He's always fun to watch ride whether he's riding park, street, or of course dirt. He's an easy fun lovin' guy who is always down to do anything that involves fun and we all know that's a plus.

Alex Magallan-I'm always impressed when I see a rider that has riding that looks good when just cruising down the street. Well, Alex is definitely one of those guys. He's a type of rider that you know used to race BMX due to the amount of precision bike control he has. I've got to hang out and ride with Alex a handful of times and looking for forward to more to come.

Kevin Porter-I've always admired that Kevin has always kept his riding fun and creative all while still having a distinct and serious style. Anytime I'm with Kevin he gets me very inspired and motivated to come up with something new to do on my bike. So thank you for that, Kevin. Also, big props to him for opening a coffee shop in Chicago called Delicious. It's rad to see what rider's are into or have going on outside of BMX.

Coming tomorrow..... The Man LeVan!!!

Safety First...

Following a recent spate of almost improbable accidents in our warehouse we've all had to watch this video made by our good friends at the German Health and Safety Board. I for one will certainly think twice before I next set foot in the warehouse or use the forklift truck...

Looking for a job with no stress?

Check this out. Now where did i leave my CV?

Mark Mulville speaks...

photo: Kyle Mcrory

Ever wonder what's going on in that Danny Bonaduce-ish head of his? Well, here are Mark's thoughts on the rest of the team:

Jimmy LeVan- jimmy has always been one of my favorite all around riders cause he is just wild as ever on anything he rides, i wanna see him jump the trailers again like in the mtv sports and music fest.

Adam Banton- being one of the only few riders left doing alot of front end stuff makes him a pretty unique rider which is always good, plus dry humor is always funny.

Alex Magallan- i dont know alex all that well but hanging out with him the little we did he was nice as ever and every lady wanted him, not bad qualities to have if you ask me.

Karl Poynter- for some reason karl will always seem like a little kid to me even though were around the same age, hes fun to go on trips with when banton is on it to cause they are neck and neck

Kevin Porter- kevins coffee drinking habits make you understand his attitude alot since he is always wild and hyper and talks alot, i like it though cause its never a silent or dull moment when he is around, funny guy he is

Sweet Lou

James Levan's Forgery...

Jimmy's foot for all you fetish people

So, we've been having all the dudes review the shoes they've been riding in. Who better to review the Forge, than the man himself. Here are Jimmy's thoughts of the Forge:

I've been testing out my FORGE shoe for a few months now and am stoked!!!!
Obviously, I going to dig the shoe lay out and look due to it being my shoe, that I designed with Stacy Lowery, but the performance is actually my favorite part. I've always been into vulk sole shoes due to the fact that you can actually feel your pedals. Unfortunately, Vulk soles are usually thinner without an arch or heel support. With this shoe. you get to have your cake at eat it too!......and them some! You actually feel the pedal with the vulk, but it also has an arch support as well as a heel support, added bonus is, they look damn good!, at least I think so! The lay outs, the soles, and the color ways! I'm stoked on them.
Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate, Jimmy Le Van

ESPN vid....

There's a pretty rad video edited by my boy Chris Mahaffey, up on the ESPN site with Karl Poynter, Alex Magallan, Metro, and some other super rad guys from the area. It's a looker:

K.P. doing the twist...

Kevin has been riding in the Twist a lot lately, so I asked him to do a little review on it. For those of you that don't know, the Twist is on one of our new cup sole bottoms. So, it's nice and supportive. Here is Kevin's short and sweet review:

The twist! This a super comfortable shoe. Designed to protect your foot for those riders looking to send a few thousand tailwhips. They do a great job of protecting the heal, arch, and the sides of your toes. The side look of them is playful, it reminds me of Miami. The top view has more of a solid laffy taffy feel. -KP

Chris Smith gets around

DuFFS rider Chris Smith pops up as usual in this months MBUK with a 7 page spread.

the last 7 page spread i looked at featured a different kind of riding.

4130 lo gets some respect

Go buy some. Fresh new colours available.

The Pitchman part 2....

R.I.P. big man.

So, it wouldn't really be fair of me to make fun of Jimmy's info-mercial, without showing off my bad ones as well. This one is from VitalBMX at Interbike last month.

Kevin Porter's thoughts....

Kevin and Alex sharing a laugh

The latest in the "Team on Team" series, comes from Mr. Kevin Porter. As many people know, Kevin definitely has an opinion on everything. So, it should come as no surprise to anyone that he even commented on himself. Enjoy:

Jimmy LeVan- is a very good person despite his crazy façade. He has a good heart along with the friendliest attitude. The best part about jimmy is that he all about BMX. Everything about it…

Adam Banton- where do I even begin? Don’t ever be afraid of popping up on Adam Banton. He is one of BMX’s most approachable pro’s. Adam is not afraid to express his opinions straight to you. He’ll be rocking two brakes until his bike is being sold at a garage sale 40 years from now.

Mark Mulville- is legitimately a human squirrel. Not just because he looks like one (he also looks like a younger version of the adult danny bonaduce), but because he also hides his nuts for the winter months. The only thing that is not squirrel looking about him is his riding.

Alex Magallan- is one of the smoothest Nashville cats I have ever met. I really can’t wait to go on a trip with him. He has so much class when it comes to smooth talking people, oh and his riding shows just that.

Karl Poynter- is the most professional rider out there. He is a sponsor’s wet dream. He goes above and beyond the call of duty when it comes to providing clips for videos. He’ll pull a technical trick out of his ass in only two to three tries. There's a lot more to be seen of Karl, I am scared to see what the future holds for us.

Kevin Porter- has meatloaf legs from trying to film a clip with his bright teal, yellow, and black twists.

Alex Magallan on....

Alex and Jake at Interbike

Next in the "team on team" series, is our international lady killer, Alex Magallan:

Jimmy LeVan- LeVan s a legend in my mind. I remember watching the 1201 vid. He was throwing one footed barspins with an echo helmet on. Pretty raw!

Adam Banton- Really nice guy. Different unique riding style for sure.

Mark Mulville- Smallest bmxer i know. Super cool dude. I recall him shredding in old halloween bikes commercials.

Karl Poynter- A member of the fakie team. Super neat, well coordinated person. Paintball dialer/ Precision rider!

Kevin Porter- Trend setter all the way. Been a fan for years. Weird frame specs! Genuine dude from what i know.

Adam Banton on....

Odyssey poster from Interbike. Adam looks like He-Man. LeVan looks like a nutjob.

So, for the first in the line of "team on the team" web series, here are Adam Banton's thoughts and opinions on our BMX team....

Jimmy LeVan- One of the first to tooth big rails & hang overs, also has had alot of hang overs. Grew up watching vids of him, he's got ALOT of good storys. Some good and some bad. I've known him the longest on the team. Takes gnarly slams. Owns a bike company named after rock&roll.

Mark Mulville- likes to draw dogs & sing kareoke, was one if the first BMXer's i saw wear incredibly tight ass jeans. He's been killing the box jump scene for ever. But will destroy anything thrown in front of him. Trials, not rails.

Alex Magallan-the least person I know on the team, recently just met and have seen 4 clips of him and they all are really dope! I also keep thinking his last name is pronounced "Magellan". It's not, is it?

Karl Poynter- Karl seems like the little bro I never had. I do have a little brother, not anything like Hot Karl though. Speaking of Hot Karl, that's a little name he earned awhile back on Rock&Roll Road Fools. A "Hot Karl" is a long shower, like 50 or 90 minutes long. It's the only way he knows Indiana style represent!

Kevin Porter- is a ghost sometimes, but when you find him he'll make you laugh and talk your ear off at the same time. He does things only the way he's seeing it. His bike set ups are just as different as his riding style.

Next up will be Alex Magallan.

The life and times of James Atkin...

When going through my DuFFS email, deleting the ones about how to make my boner better, I got a sweet email from James Atkin. James has been hopping between the Utah and Vegas area lately, filming the pilot for a show. He said it involves both skate and BMX, so I can't wait to hear more. There's also a sweet sequence of James over on the Thrasher site... Good work dude.

Team on the Team...

Did you ever wonder what team riders really thought of one another? Well, for us, you're about to know. Last week, I sent each guy a list of the other guys names, and said "freestyle" on it. No opinion or thought it wrong. I'll begin posting them tomorrow. In the meantime, thank Eric Lichtenberger for the video posted below:

Andrew White photos...

ESPN posted up a photo contributors section of Andrew White photos. Anyone that visits this site is familiar with his work. He shoots lots of photos with Alex Magallan. What people don't know, is that Andrew shoots great photos outside of BMX too. Take a look at his site. Look for more of Andrew's work in some future DuFFS projects. He just sent over some sweet shots of Alex, and Karl Poynter.

Mark Mulville's trip to the UK....

A few weeks ago, Mark, took a trip over to the UK with Deluxe. While there, he rode the hell out of everything the UK had to offer, ate some weird food, and hit on the queen. Mark is back in the US shredding in Pittsburgh right now. I should have posted this sooner, but it got lost in all the melee of Fall shoes showing up, and Interbike. We have it back together now! Look for a web vid from Mark in the very near future, but for now, there's a pretty cool vid on the opening page of the Deluxe Site.

A Deluxe dude...

If you were at Interbike, you saw these sweet Deluxe posters of Mark Mulville floating around. Our team has so much style, it should be illegal.

New Lucero album...

The new Lucero album, 1372 Overton Park, arrived today. I downloaded the sampler a couple of months ago, and I wasn't all that stoked. I'm glad I gave the whole CD a listen today. It's pretty strong. Yeah, it isn't all beer throwing music, but the band has evolved. Major label debut. Good for them, and they haven't forgotten their roots.

Alex Magallan pics....

Riding photos of Alex make everyone's day better. Trail photos especially. Here's one more example that Alex kills everything on and off his bike. In his words "those hips are life changing". I'm not sure if he's talking about those trails or some chick he knows. Funny enough, I say the same thing about my wife! Coming Monday, Mark Mulville's recap of his trip to the UK. Good stuff.

Daniel's radness....

There are a few people that work for DuFFS, that work tirelessly behind the scenes like maniacs. I just thought I would take this opportunity to thank one of them. Daniel, you're rad...... Don't worry Stephen, you're update is next....

We've arrived...

In case you didn't know, Fall shoes have been shipping, and are still showing up. If your shop doesn't have them, tell them to get them!!!
